How to Install CoachAccountable on Your Mobile Device
CoachAccountable is a web-based app. That means you don’t need to download anything. However, it’s super helpful to have an app tile for it on your home screen, with one-touch access to your coach portal.
Here’s how to do it for Apple devices:
♦ Log into the system using Safari*. If it’s appropriate for your device, check the box next to “Keep me logged in.”
♦ Tap the Share button on the browser’s toolbar.
(This is the rectangle with an arrow pointing upward; it’s on the bar at the top of the screen on an iPad, and on the bar at the bottom of the screen on an iPhone or iPod Touch)
♦ Tap the “Add to Home Screen” icon in the Share menu (you may need to scroll down on the Share menu to find it).
♦ Enter a name for the shortcut and click Add.
♦ When you click the app tile, bam! You’re put right into your account.
*Note: This doesn’t work for Chrome, Firefox, or other browsers, so just make sure you’re in Safari when you Add to Home Screen.
And for Android devices:
♦ Log in to the system, and if it’s appropriate for your device, check the box next to “Keep me logged in.”
♦ Tap the browser’s menu button and choose “Add to home screen“.
♦ Enter a name for the shortcut and your browser will add CoachAccountable to your home screen.
♦ When you click the app tile, bam! You’re put right into your account.

I tried doing this, and it worked great, the CoachAccountable icon is right on my screen.
My question is, can the icon be changed to my own company icon or must it always display as Coach Accountable?

Hi Liz,
Glad to hear the install was easy! You can absolutely use your own icon. Go to Settings >> System >> Branding and set the App Icon there – and as a bonus, this is also the one that shows as the favicon at the top of the browser tab!

I tried to do this on my iPhone and as the instructions very plainly point out it only works if it’s done in Safari. As always, you’re right on target. Unfortunately. :)
The clients I work with are STRONGLY encouraged to kill Safari on their Apple products and utilize the Covenant Eyes browser to achieve the best accountability possible on an Apple product. So here’s my question:
Is the fact that the process above won’t work in any browser other than Safari an Apple issue or can it be “re-programmed” by you amazing CoachAccountable folks for CE?

Hi Greg, it’s an “Apple thing” – when a shortcut is clicked on an Apple product, it automatically opens in Safari. As much as we’d like to help you/your clients avoid that, we’re limited on that one.

My experience is that Apple makes it as difficult as possible to run accountability software, specifically Covenant Eyes, on their products so I’m not surprised it’s an “Apple thing.” Not as convenient on a smartphone but there are always bookmarks. Gotta use what ya got! :)

Hi Rita,
It can indeed! However, the app icon likely won’t show if you put the shortcut on your computer desktop, so I’d recommend instead just saving a bookmark with the URL of your account with CoachAccountable.
